Education bridges, safe spaces and wraparound care for PDA children, teens and their families in Western Australia.
PDAHub is being developed first for Western Australian children, young people and families. Our focus right now is local, because we want to build something grounded, practical and genuinely useful where we live. Over time, we hope it can become a model that other communities across Australia, and perhaps beyond, can learn from and adapt in their own way.
PDA is a profile of autism shaped by a deep need for autonomy. Everything we build begins from understanding, never pressure.
We meet every child, parent and carer where they are, honouring their pace, their voice and their lived experience.
We listen first. We hold space for big feelings and hard days, because feeling understood is where safety begins.
We do what we say, transparently and accountably, so families, professionals and funders can trust the Hub.
The old models weren't made for PDA. We design new ones, flexible, low-demand and genuinely human.
PDAHub is supported by a small, deeply dedicated team, and most of us are parents of PDA children ourselves. We don't support this community from the outside, we live it every day.
We are the Western Australian team behind the online community that now supports more than 3,300 families, and we're carefully building a calmer, purpose-built platform designed around how PDA families genuinely need to connect. We also played a key role in planning and running the first National PDA Conference in Australia, a real milestone for recognition and understanding right across the country.
PDAHub is one of the key initiatives of our Not-for-Profit organisation. We are also expanding our board to include PDA adults and building a strong executive team to help make this vision real. We know building something meaningful takes time, and we are passionate about what it makes possible: support for our community around education, respite and everyday care.
.. In truth, we're only just getting started.
We've taken a complex web of services and made it simple: a calm centre of safe spaces, bridges that reach outward to learning, and a circle of care wrapped around it all.
Low-demand rooms where kids, teens and parents can simply be: learn, rest, play and regulate, with no pressure to perform.
Trusted connections to remote-learning providers and tertiary institutions, so education meets each young person where they are.
A small team of on-site professionals and respite, embracing the whole family under one roof. To complement this, we will provide bridges to trusted external clinical, therapeutic and human support services.
For many PDA young people, mainstream school becomes impossible. Our Education Bridge will be a calm, supported way back, pairing safe learning spaces with the providers and institutions that can take them further.
Parents and teachers step into the Education Assistant role, side by side, so every learner is held by someone who understands them.
Progress: Our team has spent many months in preparation, this won't happen overnight as we finalise a location and get started, join our community and we will keep you informed.
Caring for a PDA child is relentless. The Parents' Respite is a warm, quiet space built around a community coffee shop, somewhere to sit, exhale, and be among people who simply get it.
We're moving our Facebook group to a purpose-built Community Platform: private, calm and made for PDA families. Less noise, more genuine support, and a space that's truly ours.
Our community is currently centred on Western Australian families and the local services, relationships and support around them. If you are outside Western Australia, you are very welcome to explore what we are building, but the community and early access spaces are currently designed for WA.
